Does Fair Trade make a Difference?

What impact do Fairly Traded products have on producers around the world? Tea farmer Julius Ethangatha strongly believes that the economic empowerment of small farmers in Kenya has delivered real benefits, not only to tea growers in his country but has made a positive difference to local communities.

Julius worked with the Kenya Tea Development Authority for many years to develop tea growing among small scale farmers, and is a former Chair of the East Africa Tea Trade Association. On a visit to the UK in Fair Trade fortnight he spoke about why Cafedirect and other such schemes have become so important as a way to trade and purchase - Length 15 mins.
