Humanitarian Hands

Living on the streets of Ethiopia’s capital city Addis Ababa is often a precarious existence, with crushing poverty and disease rife. Nicholas Osborne and Maria Lopez (pictured on menu page) felt they couldn’t ignore this kind of situation, that prevails in so many parts of today’s world, and decided to take direct action to make a difference. In summer 2007 they left the UK to spend a month in Ethiopia.

In this interview Nicholas and Maria tell their story of the people they came across on the streets of Ethiopia, how they interacted with those most in need, and developed what has become the Open Way charitable trust. And since they use their own free time and money to now run projects in Ethiopia, any money donated goes directly to help people in need. 27mins.
