After finishing her legal studies in India and returning home in 1975, she was put under house arrest but this didn’t deter her from working for community rights and co-founding the Natal Organisation of Women.

A life long member of the ANC, Ela Gandhi was elected to the South African Parliament in 1994, representing her home township of Phoenix until early 2003. She is a passionate advocate of the non violence and peace and talks here about her vision and her life. Length 38 mins.
